THIRD-PARTY TRUST & SERVICE ASSURANCE

Service Organization Control (SOC 1 / SOC 2) Attestation Advisory

Independent attestation support, control gap diagnostics, Type I and Type II testing readiness, and trust criteria validation for technology and service providers.

STRATEGIC PERSPECTIVE

The Third-Party Assurance Mandate: Establishing Unquestioned Customer Trust

Strategic Imperative: Enterprise B2B buyers and institutional procurement teams require verified, independent SOC 1 and SOC 2 attestation reports as a mandatory prerequisite for contract execution.

In an outsourced, cloud-centric economy, enterprise customers and financial institutions increasingly entrust mission-critical financial transactions, confidential personal data, and operational infrastructure to third-party service providers. However, vendor risk management requirements have intensified. Enterprise procurement departments and security compliance officers no longer accept vendor self-assessments or marketing promises. Without a formal, CPA-certified System and Organization Controls (SOC) report, service providers face immediate disqualification during enterprise RFP processes and protracted sales cycles.

Routeget’s Service Organization Control (SOC) Attestation Advisory practice guides technology providers, SaaS platforms, cloud hosts, and outsourced business process organizations through every phase of the SOC lifecycle. We partner with executive leadership and security teams to design robust control environments, execute diagnostic readiness assessments, remediate control gaps, and manage the formal attestation examination with independent CPA service auditors.

Our certified assurance advisors (CPA, CISA, CRISC) specialize across AICPA SOC 1 (SSAE 18 / ISAE 3402) for financial reporting controls, and SOC 2 / SOC 3 for Security, Availability, Processing Integrity, Confidentiality, and Privacy Trust Services Criteria. We implement automated evidence collection workflows that turn SOC compliance from a disruptive annual scramble into a continuous, automated operational feature—accelerating B2B enterprise sales and cementing market leadership.

EXECUTIVE FAQ

SOC Attestation Advisory FAQs

Critical architectural, operational, and licensing considerations for executive leadership and steering committees.

A SOC 2 Type I report evaluates whether a service organization’s controls are suitably designed to meet the specified Trust Services Criteria at a single point in time. A SOC 2 Type II report goes much further: it evaluates both the design suitability and the operating effectiveness of those controls over a specified testing period (typically 6 or 12 months).
The Security criteria (also known as the Common Criteria) is mandatory for every SOC 2 examination. The remaining criteria—Availability, Processing Integrity, Confidentiality, and Privacy—are optional and should be selected based on your business model. For example, a cloud hosting provider should include Availability, whereas an organization processing sensitive consumer data should include Confidentiality and Privacy.
CUECs are controls that the service organization assumes its customers will implement on their own end to ensure the overall control objective is achieved. For example, a SaaS provider’s SOC report may assume that customer administrators securely manage their own user passwords and promptly revoke credentials when an employee departs.
Professional independence standards established by the AICPA prohibit a single firm from designing or implementing controls and subsequently acting as the independent attesting auditor. Routeget acts as your dedicated readiness advisor, implementer, and advocate, and partners with reputable independent CPA firms who perform the formal attestation.
